Insomnia
Acupuncture works for insomnia
Chinese systematic review authors have concluded that acupuncture is effective for insomnia. A total of 73 RCTs involving 5533 participants were analysed. The pooled results showed better effect from acupuncture compared with no treatment, and also that acupuncture plus drugs resulted in better improvement than drugs alone. In one study acupuncture showed more benefit than benzodiazepine drugs. The evidence also showed that there were less adverse events from acupuncture compared with western medications.
