Herb-Drug Interactions with Chinese Medicine
Approved for 3 CEUs via NCCAOM, Florida, and Texas. *This course package consolidates previous courses
As of January 1, 2022, this course is not approved by the California Acupuncture Board.
While not all patients take western pharmaceuticals, the majority of the population will be on at least one medication, and many on three or more. In Part 1 of this course with Greg Sperber, you'll learn seven quick and easy steps to help you safely prevent herb-drug interactions in your acupuncture practice. Part 2 of this course reviews the nine most dangerous drugs in conventional medicine, how they work, why they are dangerous, and the implications for practitioners of Chinese medicine who may have patients taking these drugs. The goals of this course are to introduce participants to western pharmaceuticals that should be red-flags for the Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, to introduce participants to the basic pharmacology that explains how these pharmaceuticals work and why they may be a problem, to acquaint participants with several basic concepts in pharmacology and how those basics are important in the practice of Chinese herbal medicine, and finally, to assist participants who work in conventional medical healthcare settings to communicate intelligently about drugs their patients may be taking.
